Counsel for the Independent Voter Project, Chad Peace, discussed the coalition’s efforts with Robin Koerner on the Blue Republican Radio Show earlier this week.

While ‘getting ‘outside the partisan box’ with Robin, they debated how nonpartisan electoral systems can actually benefit minor parties by leveling the electoral playing field so all voters matter, instead of a small percentage of ardent Republicans or Democrats.

Under a nonpartisan primary system, candidates can no longer rely on only the 4 to 6 percent of their partisan base to make it to a general election.

During the interview, Chad clarified that the goal of #EndParisanship is not to diminish or end parties, rather the point is to make them more accountable to voters. Likewise, EndPartisanship is not an ideological organization. The purpose of #EndPartisanship is to protect the rights of all individual voters, not to advocate for policy positions.
