IVP San Diego: Protecting Your Right to Vote
In 2012, only 2 out of the 7 citywide races went to the general election. And in 2014, just 1 out of 4 citywide elections made it to November.
As a result, over 200,000 voters are left without a choice in the general election each year. Latino, African American, and Asian Voters are the most disenfranchised -- by far.
Additionally, the law is misleading. The term “primary” implies that a final election will follow. But 75% of the time there is no general election.
Let’s talk about it.
Guest speakers include City Attorney Candidates: Gil Cabrera, Mara Elliot, and Bryan Pease. All candidates for City Attorney were invited.
